10 KM URBAN WALKING RULES

Art. 1 GENERAL INFORMATION

With the support of the Municipality of Florence, the Città Metropolitana and the Tuscan Regional Administration, Camelbag ssdrl is organizing the third edition of “Firenze Urban Walking”, a 10 km "nordic walking" along Florence’s streets and paths with a 200-metre elevation change, beginning in Piazzale Michelangiolo at 9:05 pm on Friday 2nd March 2018.

Art. 2 REGISTRATION

All persons over 16 years with a valid (on 2nd March 2018) medical certificate of fitness that allows to practice sports (competitive or not) can register to run in the Firenze Urban Walking.
Athletes that have been disqualified for using doping substances may not participate.
Online registration closes on Thursday, 1st March 2018 or when the maximum number of 200 participants has been reached.

Art. 3 REGISTRATION FEE

The registration fee is as follows:

from 20/10 to 15/11 € 17,00
from 16/11 to 20/02/2018 € 22,00
from 21/02 to 01/03 € 27,00


and includes:
- race bib number
- assistance along the route
- gadget
- final refreshment 
In the event of non-participation, the fee cannot be reimbursed.
The following is not permitted:
- bib number exchange or use by anyone other than registered athlete
- postponement of registration fee to the following year

 

Art. 4 MEDICAL CERTIFICATE

Foreign athletes should fill in the certificate that they can find at this link >>, have it signed and stamped by a doctor and upload on their personal runner space on the registration website.
In case of registration on the day of the race in the departure area, a copy of the medical certificate must be delivered together with the registration.

 

Art. 5 COLLECTION OF BIB NUMBER AND RACE KIT

Bib numbers and race kits can be picked up at Piazzale Michelangelo on Friday 2nd March  from 3 pm to 8 pm.

 

Art. 6 STARTING POINT

Runners must be in Piazzale Michelangelo before 8.45 pm on Friday 2nd March.
The race will start at 9:05 pm, immediately afterw the 13 km race start.
Near the starting point there are changing rooms and cloakrooms available.
The Organizers cannot be held responsible for any items left unattended in the cloakroom area.

 

Art. 7 ROUTE

The route of the Firenze Urban Trail 13 km by night race is as follows: 
Piazzale Michelangelo, Viale Poggi, Via dei Bastioni, Via San Miniato al Monte, Via del Monte alle Croci, Parco della Rimembranza, San Miniato al Monte, Via delle Porte Sante, Scala del Monte alle Croci, Via del Monte alle Croci, Via di Belvedere, Costa San Giorgio, Costa Scarpuccia, Via del Canneto, Costa dei Magnoli, Via dei Bardi, Via dei Guicciardini, Piazza Pitti, Palazzo Pitti, Giardino di Boboli, Via di San Leonardo, Viale Galileo, Via dell'Erta Canina, Erta Canina (pedonale), Viale Galileo, Piazzale Michelangelo.
The route may be altered if some stretches of road are closed or for reasons of force majeure not dependent on the Organizers.
Race kilometres are not marked.
Participants must respect the rules of the road and the marked path route, they must avoid shortcuts and must not cut stretches of the route.
Leaving the official route will lead to disqualification and is at the sole risk of athletes.

 

Art. 8 SAFETY

Organization staff will be present at the junctions along the route. An ambulance will be on standby at the finish line.

 

Art. 9 ENVIRONMENT

Participants must respect the environment and avoid abandoning rubbish.
Firenze Urban Trail complies with the “I don’t drop my rubbish” campaign promoted by Spirito Trail.

 

Art. 10 WEATHER

In the case of adverse weather conditions (dense fog, severe thunder storms), the Organizers reserve the right to make last-minute changes to the route, even during the race, in order to eliminate potential hazards or adverse conditions.
Race participants and staff shall be informed of any changes.
The Organizers also reserve the right to suspend or cancel the race if weather conditions are such that they put participants, volunteers or medical teams at risk.
If the race is interrupted or cancelled for adverse weather conditions, or for any other reason not dependent on the Organizers, no fee refund will be made.

 

Art. 11 OBLIGATORY EQUIPMENT

Participants must walk with a headlamp which must be switched on for the entire walk.

 

Art. 12 MAXIMUM TIME LIMITS, DROPPING OUT

The maximum time permitted to reach the finish line is 2 hours (before 11 pm on Friday 2nd March).
A “pick up” service will follow the last runner, in order to help athletes who withdraw and to be sure that anyone with injuries is assisted.

 

Art. 13 SELF-SUFFICIENCY

Athletes must be totally self-sufficient. There are no refreshment points on the route. Athletes are advised to bring half a litre of water with them.

 

Art. 14 IMAGE USE RIGHTS 

By registering, runners authorise the Organizers to freely use any still or moving images depicting athletes during their participation in Firenze Urban Walking, with no territorial or time limits.

 

Art. 15 WAIVER OF RESPONSIBILITY 

Voluntary registration and participation in the race indicates full acceptance of these race rules and any changes made. By registering, participants exempt the Organizers from any liability, whether civil or criminal, for damage to persons and/or property caused by or to them.
